I'll try that.  I've been wondering if when we migrated our public folders from 2003 to 2010 didn't completely initialize like you said.  I'll take a look at what you've sent me and let you know.  Thanks!

I definitely have too many handles going on according to this link.  Currently my lsass.exe has 354,520 handles.  When viewing it in process explorer the handle type is "Unknown type" and when I try to click on properties of it there is an error that says, "Unable to query the object".

Hi flatleyld

Did you try those links?

Also, you can try the solution on below thread to see if it helps

lsass.exe using 20% - 25% of CPU non-stop

http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en/w7itprosecurity/thread/7aae37cf-3b67-4cab-8f9a-c7467496322d

As the thread owner Benjamin said, you can do below steps

  1. Intermedia suggested checking my "Outlook Anywhere" "Microsoft Exchange Proxy Settings".  They had me check "On fast networks, connect using HTTP first, then connect using TCP/IP".
  2. My public folders in Exchange 2010 hadn't been completely initialized.  I created a root folder in my hosting account and verified that the permissions were configured properly for my user accounts.

Hope those helps

Cheers

Hi

Is your exchange server up-to-date with windows updates?

What AV you running on your server? Are you up to date? with definitions: Any info in your event viewer other than lsass?

Try looking at Microsoft Server Performance Advisor:

http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/hardware/hh367834.aspx

and here, it might assist you in finding the root cause, can also be something on the network (it states for domain controller but i thought it might assist you in your troubleshooting):

I am running Exchange 2010 on a VM with 4 cores, 16GB RAM, and on Server 2008 R2.  We migrated from Exchange 2003 about 5 months ago.  For about 2 months now we've been having to reboot the server because the lsass.exe process takes up all the CPU.  The only way we could clear it was to reboot.  This put us back to normal for a few days then the lsass process would start to spike.  It would spike then return to normal, and keep doing that through out the day.  I tracked the process looking for a pattern.  At first there wasn't one, but after a few days of tracking a pattern emerged of spiking every 20 minutes.

I came in this morning and the process was locked in a high CPU usage for 5 hours until I had to reboot again.  Anyway, I'm at a loss as to what to do now.  It's a real pain rebooting this thing every week.

Any ideas?
